Reflecting on 2019: Guest Post by Jennifer Gray

Written by Market Street Talent | December 27, 2019

Another year is in the books for Market Street Talent! To mark the end of 2019, we asked our founder and President, Jennifer Gray, if she’d like to share a few thoughts with our blog followers to mark the occasion.

Here we are again with another year (and another decade!) coming to a close.  It’s amazing how very fast the years go by.  And it’s amazing how very many things happen in the span of one year.  As I reflect back on all of the happenings, accomplishments, and experiences of 2019, the word that immediately comes to mind is: grateful. I have said it many times before and I will continue to say it, I am so very grateful for the MST team I am blessed to work with each and every day, all that we have accomplished, and all that makes us uniquely who we are.  We are #bettertogether.

Here are just a few of the other things that made my list:

Significant Growth –  2019 was marked by significant growth.  Not only are we busting at the seams in our Portsmouth home office due to the increase in internal core employees, we also realized significant growth in the number of new clients we now proudly serve, the number of positions we filled for our clients, and the number of consultants that are enthusiastically working on client projects.  We are very blessed to be working with many amazing clients – thank you!

Community Partnerships-  After 25 years running and a short 5 five year hiatus, MST was the proud annual sponsor of ebrew– a creative/technical networking event that relaunched in March.  It’s great to see so many fellow techies get together monthly to see each other! In addition, MST was happy to sponsor the UXPA user group this year, providing food and beverages for their monthly meeting. Promoting and fostering the growth of technology in our community is important to us as it is a vital part of our vision.

Women In Tech –  In October, we held our 6th annual Women in Tech event at 3S Art in Portsmouth.  This year, we explored the very important and timely topic of “Seeing Past Bias” with our greatest number of participants yet.  Leslie Witham of GYK Antler was our keynote speaker, reminding us that seeing hidden bias and seeing *past* bias in ourselves and others is everyone’s responsibility. Supporting women in technology is vital to the continued growth of technology in our communities.  We will be back again next year for our 7th annual Women in Tech event – stay tuned!

Community Give-Back –  Our community give-back program is now in its 2nd official year and it defines us.  As a company, we chose to support both New Heights and Gather in 2019 with donations of our time, talent and treasure. Twice last year, we volunteered at Gather as a company for our Team Days of Service, and throughout the year several MSTr’s volunteered at New Heights, helping with their Lego Robotics teams.  The time we spend volunteering not only benefits the non-profit organizations towards their mission (we hope), but it also brings us closer together as a team.  It’s both humbling and an honor.

MST Team –  A big heart-felt WELCOME to our new team members who joined MST this year, and a big heart-felt THANK YOU to our tenured team members who have stepped up and into bigger roles this year. I am proud of each and every one of you, and could not be happier to work beside each and every one of you every day.  You are smart, dedicated, supportive people with big hearts for the Company. Individually we are strong. Together we are stronger. Here’s to 2020. Bring it on!

I am grateful,

Jennifer
