Get to Know Market Street Talent: Sharon Hussey
As part of our “Get to Know Market Street Talent” series, we introduce you to a member of our team and give you a closer look at the people who drive the success of our company. This week, meet Market Street Talent’s Controller and first official employee, Sharon Hussey.
What is your role at Market Street Talent?
I am the Controller. I handle all things related to accounting at Market Street!
How did you first learn about Market Street Talent?
I had the privilege of working with Jennifer Gray in the past. When she called to tell me about her new project (way back in 2008), she offered me a job. I was thrilled and excited to work with her again.
You’ve been with Market Street Talent since the beginning! How has it changed over the years?
The location is one of the biggest things – when your staff increases, so does the office space. I like where we’re currently located. Plenty of parking (which is a premium in Portsmouth), easy walk to downtown and everything it offers, and our facility is comfortable with room to grow.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I’ve been married for over 20 years. We have two kids, two dogs, two cats and many chickens! I grew up in the seacoast area, attended Portsmouth High School and graduated with a BS from Southern New Hampshire University. I enjoy skiing in the winter with my family and camping, kayaking and golfing in the warmer months.
What do you like to do on your days off?
Outdoor activities with my family – last weekend, we spent a few hours at the batting cages, driving range, raced go-karts and laser tag and a rather competitive round of mini golf!
What book did you read last?
Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. HBO made a mini-series out of it, and they did a great job, but you know how it goes…the book is always better!
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you want to be cast as you?
Hmmm that’s a tough one. I know who I would want to play my husband: Sam Elliott! (Sharon chose this picture to include!)
What’s your favorite thing to do in Portsmouth?
EAT! Portsmouth has the best restaurants!
What is your favorite part of working at Market Street Talent?
The casual atmosphere is great. We have a well-stocked kitchen with healthy snacks and beverages. And working with young people keeps me young…sort of 😉
Wine or beer?
Wine, of the red variety.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee with cream…lots of cream…
Motto or personal mantra?
I don’t have a motto or personal mantra, but I believe in Karma. Be nice, and people will respond in a positive manner.
