Five Apps That Propel a Job Search
Let’s face it—most of us could use a little extra help in getting one step ahead of the competition when it comes to finding that perfect job. Market Street Talent’s Senior Technical Recruiter Scott Miller gives you a download on his five favorite apps that help you find hidden jobs and get your resume quickly into the hands of hiring managers everywhere.
iPQ Career Planner (iOS) – Not finding the right job that fits your skills and abilities? iPQ provides an assessment test that helps identify your strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to better hone your search for the position best suited for you. iPQ is a really great app for recent college grads who have more academia than work experience in their background.
Pocket Resume (iOS) – Pocket Resume is ideal for the busy job seeker. It allows you to develop a resume from your smartphone using advanced PDF rendering which you can then fire off to a hiring manager or staffing agency from pretty much anywhere.
Hidden Jobs (iOS) – This app’s algorithms are developed to specifically track information from various companies that are expanding, moving or downsizing, and can notify users of various activities that can lead to an open position within that organization. The uniqueness of this app is how it tracks various forms of media and correlates that to a company’s ability to hire.
Good Job (iOS) – Good Job is geared toward organizing a job seeker’s activities and keeping information (e.g., contacts, actions, events) in one central place. This is great for the active job seeker who has multiple irons in the fire.
JobMo (iOS/Android) – JobMo allows you to search for jobs and apply to them directly on your specific device. You can view and compare salaries and trends for your desired jobs and discuss job topics with other job seekers for interviewing tips and job information for specific companies. The app is a great option because it uses Google Maps to pinpoint jobs that are nearby to the user’s location.
