Keeping it Local: MST’s Community Shout-outs!

Written by Market Street Talent | May 22, 2020

For today’s blog, our team thought it was important to give the local businesses in our beloved communities the attention they deserve. We’re “Keeping it Local” by highlighting the reasons our team chooses to shop local, especially now – while also offering a few shout-outs to each of our favorite local spots!

Why We Shop Local

Tori Leavitt, HR Coordinator: “I try to eat and shop local in general, but small businesses are really vulnerable in tough economic times and I want to do my part to help them pay their staff and keep their doors open until things stabilize.”

Katie Brown, Technical Recruiter: “It’s important to support local businesses because they have been strongly affected by this pandemic. I want them to come out of this strong, knowing they are supported!”

Sharon Hussey, Controller: “All of these businesses are locally owned, and ones we’ve frequented in the past. We don’t want to see them go!”

Our Team’s Current Local Favorites

 Flatbread Company

Kelsey Kane, Technical Recruiting Manager: “We have been supporting local businesses – especially Flatbread Co. I have quite a few friends who work there who are constantly filling me in on the good Flatbread does for the greater community – like donating their food to essential workers.”

Black Trumpet

Jennifer Gray, Principal: “We have enjoyed take-out from The Black Trumpet in downtown Portsmouth. I’ve also found that The Take Out Guys deliver juice from Fresh Press (also located downtown Portsmouth), which has been a welcomed treat!”

Tendercrop Farm

Katie Brown, Technical Recruiter:  “I’ve been supporting local family owned restaurants and markets. I live right down the road from Tendercrop Farm, which is where I do all my grocery shopping. Tendercrop also allows other local food businesses to set up tables outside their store!

Three River Farmers Alliance

Tori Leavitt, HR Coordinator: “Three Rivers Farm Alliance started a home delivery service, so I’ve gotten a few fresh produce orders from them to support local farmers. I’ve also been using no-contact pickup options at my favorite smaller places, like Earth’s Harvest Kitchen, La Festa, and Harvey’s Bakery in Dover.”

Panzanellas

Megan Feeley, Account Executive: “I’ve done takeout from Panzanella’s, a local pizza and sub shop in Newmarket, several times. They also have excellent soft pretzel sticks – my favorite!”

Looking Forward

Although the future is always uncertain, thinking about brighter times to come has kept our team’s spirits high. Here are a few spots we’re excited to visit soon!

Jennifer Gray, Principal: “I’m looking forward to deck dining this summer, especially Market Street Talent’s new neighbor, The Rooftop at Envio!”

Megan Feeley, Account Executive: “I can’t wait to get back to the Thirsty Moose or Legends, and anywhere that has an outdoor patio I can sip a beer on!”

Tori Leavitt, HR Coordinator: “I miss going to Sonny’s in downtown Dover, plus the Green Elephant and Vida Cantina in Portsmouth!”
