As part of our “Get to Know Market Street Talent” series, we introduce you to a member of our team and give you a closer look at the people who drive the success of our company. This week, meet Market Street Talent’s newest Technical Recruiter, Kelsey Kane.
What is your role at Market Street Talent?
I was brought onto the team as a Technical Recruiter.
How did you first learn about Market Street Talent?
One of my best friends, Laura Bartkiewicz, has worked with Chris Howgate [of Market Street Talent] in the past and she told me about Market Street Talent and its great reputation.
Before working at Market Street Talent, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
To be honest, I don’t think any of my jobs have been very unusual. I teach group fitness classes when I’m not at Market Street Talent, which I love. I’ve also bartended for a number of years. I did work at a popular news station in New York for some time, and had to be up and ready to go for a 2:30am shift…that was a little rough!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I love spending as much time with my family and close friends as I can – that is very important to me. I also love to travel and wish I could spend my whole life doing just that, although I might miss Market Street a little too much. I have a three-legged puppy who is my life! My grandmother jokes that I must have given birth to this dog, because her personality is just like mine.
Where is your hometown?
Amesbury, Massachusetts. I live there currently and love it.
What do you like to do on your days off?
I enjoy spending my days off outside. I would much rather be out exploring – hiking, paddle boarding, taking my dog to the beach – than being a couch potato inside.
What book did you read last?
I wish I had more time to read! Bad excuse, I know. I’m a neat freak. If I have some down time, I usually spend it organizing my closet or some other ridiculous place in my home that doesn’t need organizing again! But it is a goal of mine to read more.
What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?
The importance of making something great of your life. Whatever that thing is that is most important to you – and it’s different for everyone – you should definitely follow through with it.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Portsmouth?
Go to the restaurants down by the water in the summer time. There are some really great spots to get dinner and drinks.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Owning my own home, maybe with a little one running around. And by “little one” I most likely mean another dog!
Wine or beer?
Margaritas!
Coffee or tea?
Used to be tea, but now coffee. That’s recruiter life.
Motto or personal mantra?
Everything happens for a reason.
Welcome to Market Street Talent, Kelsey!
